After Care Instructions

Because we use the latest state-of-the-art equipment, and all our treatments are performed by trained nurses who specialize in only laser hair removal, we find that our patients can usually go right back to their daily activity. However, we do provide after care instructions to help make sure that you protect your skin and avoid any potential problems.

Many patients have no effects at all after treatment and immediately go back to their regular activities, including work. However, immediately following laser treatment, there might be a generalized red coloration of the skin. This is perfectly normal as well. This may be accompanied by minor swelling for 24 hours, which can be relieved with an ice pack or Tylenol.

It’s probably no surprise to find that your skin may be more sensitive to light after laser treatment. Avoid direct sun exposure, as well as tanning beds/creams for 5-7 days. Sunscreen with an SPF of 30 will ensure your protection for 6 weeks after treatment. Makeup over the areas should be avoided until red ares begin to dissipate. Be gentle, avoid shaving until red ares resolve. Avoid chlorine, such as hot tubs or swimming pools, for at least 24 hours.

Avoid the use of exfoliates, loofa sponges and aggressive scrubbing to the treated sites. Pat area dry and be especially careful if any peeling is present. Apply a thin layer of aloe or Aquafor to the area several times a day until any swelling or redness has dissipated. Shower as usual, but remember the treated area might be temperature sensitive. No waxing, tweezing, bleaching or depilatories between treatments, although shaving is fine.
